How to buy tickets

MCard Mobile App

The quickest, easiest and most convenient way to buy your tickets is via the MCard Mobile App. Virtually all tickets can be purchased through the MCard Mobile App. Exclusions apply, please see below.

 Ticket exclusions

  • MySingle tickets (60p and £1.80) - purchase on-board the bus on the day of use or buy in advance from your bus operator’s mobile app. The £1.20 fare is available via the MCard Mobile app.
  • Annual MCards - you can apply online or at a Bus Station Travel Centre
  • Corporate Annual MCards - available to employees of West Yorkshire businesses who have joined the West Yorkshire Travel Plan Network. For more information, please visit the West Yorkshire Travel Plan Network website
  • WY DaySaver Train and Concessionary DaySaver Train – purchase from a rail station ticket office

 

MCards and PhotoCards

If you don’t have a smartphone and therefore unable to use the MCard Mobile App, you can apply for an MCard or PhotoCard which can be loaded with daily, weekly or monthly tickets for just buses, or buses and trains within West Yorkshire.

You can top up your MCard or PhotoCard via:

  • Metro Bus Station Travel Centres
  • MCard ticket machines - For Bus only or Bus and Rail Travel you can top up at any Bus Station MCard ticket machine. Bus Station MCard ticket machines can be found at: Bradford Rail Station, Halifax, Huddersfield, Leeds, Castleford, Pontefract, Dewsbury, Keighley and Wakefield.
  • Rail station ticket machines - For Bus and Rail Travel top up at any of the following rail station ticket machines: Leeds, Batley, Burley Park, Crossgates, East Garforth, Garforth, Headingley, Horsforth, New Pudsey, Woodlesford, Apperley Bridge, Bingley, Bradford F Square, Bradford Int, Burley in Wharfedale, Castleford, Crossflats, Frizinghall, Guiseley, Menston, Normanton, Saltaire, Sandal & Agbrigg, Shipley, Wakefield Kirkgate, Ben Rhydding, Fitzwilliam, Halifax, Ilkley, Keighley, Hebden Bridge, Moorthorpe, Mytholmroyd, Slaithwaite, South Elmsall, Sowerby Bridge, Steeton & Silsden, Todmorden, Dewsbury, Huddersfield.
  • MCard App (Android)
  • Scratch-off tickets (Group, Family and Bus & Train) are sold at most Bus Station Travel Centres and have no specific date of travel. On the day you want to use the ticket, simply scratch off the day, date, month and year and then seal it with the protective overlay. Scratch-off tickets are not sold at rail outlets, nor can they go through the automatic tickets gates at rail stations.
  • Pre-dated tickets (Group, Family, Bus & Train and DaySaver Train) are sold at rail station ticket offices. You can buy them on the day of use or in advance if you know when you want to travel.

On the bus

The following tickets can be purchased on-board the bus on the day of travel:

  • DaySaver Bus
  • MyDay for Under 19s
  • MyWeek for Under 19
