Who owns, promotes and manages MCard?

The West Yorkshire Ticketing Company Limited (WYTCL) is a joint venture between the bus and rail operators of West Yorkshire and our delivery partner, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA).

Established 14 years ago, our not-for-profit partnership has developed a range of multi-operator, multi-modal tickets sold through a modernised retail network.  Initially, our range of tickets was sold under the brand name 'MetroCard', but since 2014 we have updated our systems and retail network to sell smartcard tickets under the brand name 'MCard'.

Annually, we sell about £32million of public transport tickets in West Yorkshire. MCard represents one of the most successful smartcard public transport ticketing schemes outside of London.

We're very proud of our achievements to date, especially our new MCard app that allows customers to purchase MCard tickets through their Android phones wherever they are, at any time of the day or night.   By listening to our customers, we hope to understand our customer's requirements and offer solutions that address our customer's needs, makes travel easier and encourages public transport use in West Yorkshire.
